PRODUCT // ALBERTA RUG SERIES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each rug was inspired by an aerial perspective of the Tar Sands, a giant oil extraction project in Northern Alberta Canada, as seen by satellite cameras. In collaboration with Modallion Rug Company, the Collection explores the idea of a hand made rug that takes its inspiration directly from the industrial chaos of mining, our dependence on fossil fuels and our drive to obtain them at any cost.

Woven in Nepal by artisans using locally sourced wool, silk and hemp fibres, each rug takes more than two months of manual labour to complete. Aberta Rug Series is part of an international initiative to support local design with sustainable manufacturing processes.

Each piece in the Alberta Rug Series was designed in Toronto by Fugitive Glue and produced at a fair trade workshop in Nepal. Special thanks to Green Peace Organization for providing us with the necessary images.

*** The Alberta Rug series was awarded a Juror's Choice award from
Herman Miller during it's display at the Toronto Design Offsite Festival
in January 2013.
